Eirenarchos of Rostov

Venerable Eirenarchos the Recluse of Rostov.

St. Eirenarchos was a monk of the Boris and Gleb Monastery near Rostov in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, who lived as a recluse in chains and strict asceticism. Tradition relates that he blessed Prince Pozharsky before the deliverance of Moscow in the Time of Troubles.

He reposed in 1616 and is commemorated on January 13.

On the New Calendar, Eirenarchos of Rostov is commemorated on January 13. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 26 of the civil calendar.
