Epimachos of Egypt

Holy Martyr Epimachos of Pelusium, who suffered at Alexandria.

Epimachos was an ascetic of Mount Pelusium in Egypt who, hearing of the persecution, went down to Alexandria and openly overthrew the idols and confessed Christ.

He was tortured and beheaded around 250; tradition relates that a drop of his blood healed a blind woman standing among the crowd.

On the New Calendar, Epimachos of Egypt is commemorated on October 31. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 13 of the civil calendar.
