Holy Martyrs Eudoxios, Romylos, Zeno and Makarios, and the many soldiers martyred with them.
St. Eudoxios was a military commander of Melitene in Armenia in the time of the persecutions of Diocletian and his successors. When he declared himself a Christian, tradition relates that more than a thousand soldiers under him laid down their arms and confessed with him, and were put to death together. Eudoxios, with his friends Zeno and Makarios, was beheaded.
St. Romylos, an officer of the emperor Trajan's court, was likewise martyred for rebuking the emperor's persecution of Christian soldiers. They are commemorated together on September 6.
