Euthymios of Madytos

Saint Euthymios the Wonderworker, Bishop of Madytos in Thrace.

Euthymios was bishop of Madytos on the Thracian shore of the Hellespont, traditionally placed in the tenth century. He was renowned for his charity and for the wonders worked through his prayers both in life and after his death.

His relics were treasured in Madytos and he is remembered on May 5.

On the New Calendar, Euthymios of Madytos is commemorated on May 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 18 of the civil calendar.
