Finding of the Relics of Sergius of Radonezh

Uncovering of the relics of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh, abbot of the Holy Trinity Lavra.

This day commemorates the uncovering of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Holy Trinity Monastery in 1422, some thirty years after his repose. His relics were found incorrupt and became a source of healings.

St. Sergius is the most beloved of Russian monastic saints, whose main feast is kept on September 25.

On the New Calendar, Finding of the Relics of Sergius of Radonezh is commemorated on July 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 18 of the civil calendar.
