Translation of the relics of Venerable Gerasimos the New Ascetic, protector of Cephalonia.
Gerasimos was born at Trikala in Corinthia in 1506 of the noble Notaras family. He became a monk on Mount Athos, lived in the Holy Land and on Zakynthos, and finally settled on Cephalonia, where he founded the convent of New Jerusalem at Omala.
He reposed in 1579; his relics were found incorrupt and are honored on August 16 and on this day of their translation, with many healings, especially of the possessed.
