Venerable Gerasimos of Vologda, founder of the Trinity Monastery.
St. Gerasimos was a monk of Kiev who in the twelfth century traveled north to the forests of Vologda, where he built a church of the Holy Trinity and founded a monastery. Tradition relates that he was a hieromonk of great gentleness and that he labored among the settlers of the region until his repose in 1178.
He is honored as one of the first monastic saints of the Russian north, and his memory is kept on March 4.

On the New Calendar, Gerasimos of Vologda is commemorated on March 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 17 of the civil calendar.
