Bishop Gregory the Wonderworker of Neocaesarea.
St. Gregory the Wonderworker was Bishop of Neocaesarea in Pontus in the third century. A student of philosophy who was won to Christ, he received the episcopate of a city with only a handful of Christians; through his preaching and the many miracles God worked through him, it is said that at his death only a handful of pagans remained.
He is one of the earliest saints to bear the title Wonderworker, and the Fathers of Cappadocia honored his memory and his teaching. He is commemorated on November 17.
