Holy Hieromartyrs Gerasimos, Metropolitan of Crete, and the bishops Neophytos, Joachim, Hierotheos, Zacharias, Kallinikos and Melchisedek, with the clergy and laity slain in 1821 and 1822.
In June 1821, at the outbreak of the Greek revolution, the Ottoman authorities in Heraklion put to death Metropolitan Gerasimos of Crete and the bishops of Knossos, Chersonissos, Lampi, Sitia, Petra, Rethymno, Kydonia, Kissamos and Diopolis, together with many priests, monks and lay people, in the cathedral of Saint Menas and elsewhere on the island.
The Church honours them together as the hieromartyrs of Crete on this day.

On the New Calendar, Hieromartyrs of Crete, Gerasimos of Crete and Companions is commemorated on June 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 6 of the civil calendar.
