Hierotheos the New

Hieromartyr Hierotheos the New, who suffered under the Turks.

Hierotheos was a priest of the Ottoman period who, tradition relates, was put to death for refusing to abandon the Christian faith. Few details of his life have been preserved.

He is honored among the New Martyrs on May 31.

On the New Calendar, Hierotheos the New is commemorated on May 31. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 13 of the civil calendar.
