John Nannos of Thessalonica

New Martyr John Nannos of Thessalonica, beheaded at Smyrna.

John Nannos was a young man from Thessalonica who worked in Smyrna, where he was tricked into accepting Islam. Overcome with remorse, he confessed his return to Christ before the judge.

He was beheaded in Smyrna in 1802.

On the New Calendar, John Nannos of Thessalonica is commemorated on May 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 11 of the civil calendar.
