Julian of Ancyra and the 40 with him

Hieromartyr Julian, presbyter of Ancyra in Galatia, and forty martyrs with him.

St. Julian was a priest of Ancyra in Galatia who, during the persecution of the early fourth century, hid with forty Christians in a cave and celebrated the divine services there. Betrayed to the authorities, they were seized while at prayer and, refusing to sacrifice to idols, were all put to death.

They are commemorated on September 12.
