St. Theodore was bishop of Alexandria who was seized by the pagans in the time of the persecutions, crowned with thorns in mockery of the Savior, and thrown into the sea. Tradition relates that he was preserved unharmed and was then beheaded.
He is commemorated on September 12.

The hieromartyr Theodore was Archbishop of Alexandria in the early centuries of the Church. Tradition relates that the pagans of the city seized him, crowned him with thorns, and dragged him through the streets before he was beheaded for his confession of Christ.
