  Hierarch, Αυτόνομος

  St. Autonomos was a bishop from Italy who, during the persecution under Diocletian, came to Bithynia in Asia Minor, where he preached the Gospel and brought many pagans to faith in Christ. He was slain by a pagan mob while serving the Divine Liturgy, offering his own life together with the bloodless sacrifice.

• Kournoutos of Iconium

  Hierarch, Κουρνούτος

  St. Kournoutos was bishop of Iconium in Asia Minor who suffered during the persecutions of the third century under the governor Perennius. Refusing to deny Christ, he was tortured and beheaded.

• Julian of Ancyra and the 40 with him

  Hierarch, Ιουλιανός ο Πρεσβύτερος

  St. Julian was a priest of Ancyra in Galatia who, during the persecution of the early fourth century, hid with forty Christians in a cave and celebrated the divine services there. Betrayed to the authorities, they were seized while at prayer and, refusing to sacrifice to idols, were all put to death.

• Theodore of Alexandria

  Hierarch, Θεόδωρος Αλεξανδρείας

  St. Theodore was bishop of Alexandria who was seized by the pagans in the time of the persecutions, crowned with thorns in mockery of the Savior, and thrown into the sea. Tradition relates that he was preserved unharmed and was then beheaded.

  Martyr, Μακεδόνιος, Θεόδουλος και Τατιανός

  The holy martyrs Macedonius, Theodoulos and Tatian were Christians of Phrygia who, in the reign of Julian the Apostate, refused to take part in pagan sacrifices and were burned to death on an iron grill.

• Daniel of Thasos

  Venerable, Δανιήλ ο Θάσιος

  St. Daniel of Thasos was an ascetic who lived in prayer and solitude on the island of Thasos in the northern Aegean. Tradition relates that he was a man of great humility and reposed in peace.

• Andronikos of Atroa

  Venerable, Ανδρόνικος ο εν Ατρώα

  St. Andronikos was a monk of Atroa on the slopes of the Bithynian Olympus, a great center of monastic life in the Byzantine period. He lived in asceticism and prayer and reposed in peace.
