Lucia the Widow and Geminianus

Holy Martyrs Lucia the widow of Rome and Geminianus.

St. Lucia was a Roman widow of advanced years who confessed Christ during the persecution of Diocletian. Tradition relates that her own son denounced her, and that Geminianus, moved by her constancy, believed and was baptized and suffered with her.

They were beheaded together and are commemorated on September 17.

On the New Calendar, Lucia the Widow and Geminianus is commemorated on September 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 30 of the civil calendar.
