Commemoration of St. Maximos the Confessor, St. Martin of Rome, and the disciples Anastasios and Theodore.
On September 20 the Greek Synaxarion remembers St. Maximos the Confessor together with St. Martin, Pope of Rome, and the confessors Euprepios, the two Anastasii and Theodore, who suffered with him for the Orthodox teaching of the two wills of Christ against the Monothelites in the seventh century. Maximos, the greatest theologian of his age, was mutilated and exiled and reposed in 662.
His principal feast is kept on January 21, and this day recalls the company of confessors who shared his struggle.

On the New Calendar, Maximos the Confessor and his Disciples is commemorated on September 20. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 3 of the civil calendar.
