Holy Martyr Ourpasianos of Nicomedia, burned in an iron cage.
St. Ourpasianos was a senator of Nicomedia under the emperor Maximian. When the emperor demanded that Christians in his service renounce their faith, Ourpasianos laid down his belt of office before him and confessed Christ openly.
Tradition relates that he was shut in an iron cage and slowly burned to death, and that his ashes were scattered in the sea. The Church keeps his memory on March 9.
