Oursikios the Martyr

Holy Martyr Oursikios, a military officer who suffered under Maximian.

Saint Oursikios was an officer from Illyria in the Roman army who confessed Christ before the Emperor Maximian. After tortures he was beheaded.

He is commemorated among the martyrs of this day.

On the New Calendar, Oursikios the Martyr is commemorated on August 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 27 of the civil calendar.
