Symeon of Trebizond

Holy New Martyr Symeon the Goldsmith of Trebizond.

Saint Symeon was a goldsmith from Trebizond who lived and worked in Constantinople. Accused of blasphemy against Islam, he refused to save himself by conversion and was burned to death in the seventeenth century.

He is honoured among the New Martyrs.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Symeon of Trebizond is commemorated on August 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 27 of the civil calendar.
