Pansophios the Martyr

Holy Martyr Pansophios of Alexandria.

St. Pansophios was the son of a proconsul in Alexandria who, after his father's death, gave away his wealth and lived as an ascetic in the desert for many years. In the persecution of Decius he was brought before the governor and died under scourging.

He is commemorated on January 15.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Pansophios the Martyr is commemorated on January 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 28 of the civil calendar.
