Paraskevas of Trebizond

Holy New Martyr Paraskevas of Trebizond, who suffered under the Ottomans.

St. Paraskevas was a Christian of Trebizond on the Black Sea who lived under Ottoman rule. Tradition relates that he was falsely accused before the Turkish authorities and pressed to deny his faith, but refused every inducement and threat.

He was put to death for his confession of Christ and is numbered among the New Martyrs of the Pontus. His memory is kept on March 1.
