Venerable Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia, the clairvoyant elder of Athens (1906-1991).
Venerable Porphyrios was born in Evia in 1906 and as a boy fled to the Holy Mountain, where he lived in obedience at Kavsokalyvia and received, according to his own account, the gift of spiritual insight. Illness forced him to return to the world, and for many years he served as a priest at a hospital chapel in the heart of Athens, receiving countless people in confession.
Known for his gentleness, his love of the Church's services, and his discernment, he returned to Kavsokalyvia at the end of his life and reposed there on 2 December 1991. He was glorified by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2013.

On the New Calendar, Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia is commemorated on December 2. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 15 of the civil calendar.
