Sennouphios the Sign-Bearer

Venerable Sennouphios the Sign-Bearer of Egypt.

St. Sennouphios was an ascetic of Egypt in the fourth century, famed for his miracles and called the Sign-Bearer. Tradition relates that the emperor Theodosius the Great, hearing of his holiness, asked for his prayers before a battle, and that Sennouphios sent him his worn cloak and staff, by which the emperor was victorious.

He reposed in peace, and his memory is kept on March 25.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Sennouphios the Sign-Bearer is commemorated on March 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 7 of the civil calendar.
