Timon the Hermit

Venerable Timon the Hermit of Nadeevo in Russia.

St. Timon was a monk of Russia in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, a disciple of the elder Seraphim of Sarov according to tradition, who restored the hermitage of Nadeevo in the forests of Kostroma. He lived in great poverty and prayer, and reposed in 1840.

His memory is kept on March 25.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Timon the Hermit is commemorated on March 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 7 of the civil calendar.
