Severian of Sebaste

Great Martyr Severian of Sebaste in Armenia.

St. Severian was a nobleman of Sebaste in Armenia who visited and encouraged the Forty Martyrs in their prison. After their death he was himself denounced as a Christian before the governor Lysias, confessed Christ boldly, and was tortured and hanged by a stone from the city wall.

He suffered around the year 320 and is commemorated on September 9.
