Theophanes the Confessor of Diabenos

Venerable Theophanes the Confessor and faster of Mount Diabenos.

St. Theophanes was born of pagan parents and came to Christ as a youth, fleeing to Mount Diabenos where he lived under the guidance of an elder in fasting and prayer. He later suffered for the veneration of the holy icons and is honored as a confessor.

He reposed in peace and is commemorated on September 9.

On the New Calendar, Theophanes the Confessor of Diabenos is commemorated on September 9. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 22 of the civil calendar.
