Stephen the First-Crowned of Serbia

Holy King Stephen the First-Crowned of Serbia, in monasticism Simon.

St. Stephen was the son of St. Symeon the Myrrh-streaming and brother of St. Sava, and the first crowned king of Serbia. He ruled with justice, built churches and monasteries including Zica, and before his death received the monastic tonsure with the name Simon.

He reposed in 1228 and his relics rest at Studenica. He is commemorated on September 24.
