Theodosios the Younger

Right-believing Emperor Theodosios the Younger.

St. Theodosios the Younger was Emperor of the East from 408 to 450, the son of Arcadius and grandson of Theodosios the Great. He was known for piety and learning, and during his reign the Third Ecumenical Council was convened at Ephesus.

He reposed in peace and is honored among the right-believing emperors.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Theodosios the Younger is commemorated on July 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 11 of the civil calendar.
