Theophanes of Peritheorion

Saint Theophanes, Metropolitan of Peritheorion in Thrace, an Athonite monk and bishop of the fourteenth century.

Theophanes was a monk of the Great Lavra on Mount Athos, where he was formed in the hesychast tradition. In the fourteenth century he was chosen Metropolitan of Peritheorion in Thrace and served his flock with pastoral care during troubled times.

He reposed in peace and is counted among the Athonite fathers.
