Zacharias of Corinth

Hieromartyr Zacharias, Metropolitan of Corinth, beheaded by the Ottomans.

St. Zacharias was Metropolitan of Corinth in the seventeenth century. Falsely accused before the Ottoman authorities of stirring up the people against the sultan, he was pressed to accept Islam and, refusing, was tortured and beheaded in 1684 according to the synaxaria.

He is honored as a hieromartyr, and his memory is kept on March 30.

On the New Calendar, Zacharias of Corinth is commemorated on March 30. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 12 of the civil calendar.
