  Parthenius

  Hierarch, Παρθένιος

  St. Parthenius was Bishop of Lampsakos, on the Hellespont in Asia Minor, in the fourth century, in the days of St. Constantine the Great. The son of a deacon, he was a simple fisherman in his youth, giving to the poor what he earned, and after his consecration he labored to turn his region from idolatry to Christ.

• Luke of Steirion

  Venerable, Λουκάς ο εν Στειρίω

  St. Luke was born in the tenth century to a family of farmers in central Greece and from childhood gave away his food and clothing to the poor. He became a monk and struggled in several places before settling on Mount Steirion near Delphi, where disciples gathered around him.

• George of Alikianos

  Martyr, Γεώργιος ο εξ Αλικιανού

  St. George was born in the village of Alikianos in Crete, the son of a priest. During the Cretan uprising of 1866 he was captured by the Turks together with other insurgents and pressed with threats and torture to change his faith in order to save his life.

• 1,003 Martyrs of Nicomedia

  Saint, Χίλιοι Τρεις Μάρτυρες

  The 1,003 martyrs were the household servants of four Christian officials of Nicomedia who had been put to death under Diocletian. Following the example of their masters, they presented themselves to the emperor and confessed Christ together with their wives and children.

• Aprion of Cyprus

  Hierarch, Απρίων

  St. Aprion is commemorated as a bishop of the Church in Cyprus who shepherded his flock in holiness and reposed in peace. Few details of his life have been preserved in the Synaxaria.

• Theopemptos and his Companions

  Martyr, Θεόπεμπτος και οι συν αυτώ

  St. Theopemptos and his companions confessed Christ before their persecutors and were beheaded. The Synaxaria preserve only the fact of their martyrdom.
