  Andrew the Apostle of Crete

  Hierarch, Ανδρέας Κρήτης

  St. Andrew of Crete was born in Damascus in the seventh century. First a monk in Jerusalem, he later served in Constantinople and was consecrated Archbishop of Gortyna in Crete, where he shepherded his flock with wisdom and care for the poor.

• Michael Choniates of Athens

  St. Michael Choniates was a learned churchman from Chonae in Asia Minor who became Metropolitan of Athens in the late twelfth century. He cared devotedly for his impoverished flock and defended the city against the oppressions of tax collectors and local lords.

• Theodore of Cyrene

  Hierarch, Θεόδωρος Κυρήνης

  St. Theodore was Bishop of Cyrene in Libya during the persecution of Diocletian. A skilled copyist of the Scriptures, he was denounced to the governor and tortured for his faith.

• Kyprilla, Aroa and Lucia

  Holy Woman, Κυπρίλλα, Αρόα και Λουκία

  Sts. Kyprilla, Aroa and Lucia were Christian women of Cyrene in Libya who were moved by the sufferings of Bishop Theodore to confess Christ openly. Tradition relates that Kyprilla was a widow who had been healed through the bishop.

• Martha, Mother of Symeon the Stylite

  St. Martha was a pious woman of Antioch in the sixth century and the mother of St. Symeon Stylites the Younger of the Wonderful Mountain. After her husband's death she gave herself to prayer, fasting and works of mercy.

  St. Andrei Rublev was a monk of the Holy Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius near Moscow in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. He is the most renowned of Russian iconographers, and his icon of the Holy Trinity is honored throughout the Orthodox world.
