Andrei Rublev the Iconographer

Venerable Andrei Rublev, monk and iconographer of the Holy Trinity Lavra.

St. Andrei Rublev was a monk of the Holy Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius near Moscow in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. He is the most renowned of Russian iconographers, and his icon of the Holy Trinity is honored throughout the Orthodox world.

He reposed in peace at the Andronikov Monastery and was glorified as a saint by the Russian Church.

On the New Calendar, Andrei Rublev the Iconographer is commemorated on July 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 17 of the civil calendar.
