Akakios the Presbyter

Holy Hieromartyr Akakios the Presbyter.

Akakios was a priest who confessed Christ before the pagan authorities and was tortured for the faith. Tradition relates that he was beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Akakios the Presbyter is commemorated on October 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 6 of the civil calendar.
