The Holy Woman and her Infant

The holy woman and her infant martyred at Najran with Saint Arethas.

Among the Christians of Najran who suffered under the Jewish king Dhu Nuwas was a woman whose small child, tradition relates, cried out that he too was a Christian and asked to die with his mother.

Both were cast into the fire together with the martyrs of Arethas around 523.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, The Holy Woman and her Infant is commemorated on October 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 6 of the civil calendar.
