Alexander of Drizipara

Holy Martyr Alexander of Drizipara in Thrace.

St. Alexander was a soldier who confessed Christ during the persecution of Maximian and was led from city to city in Thrace, enduring tortures at each place.

He was finally beheaded at Drizipara, and a church was later built over his tomb.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Alexander of Drizipara is commemorated on February 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 10 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
