Blessed Andrew of Totma, fool for Christ.
Andrew was born in 1638 near Totma in northern Russia and from youth took up the ascetic path of foolishness for Christ under the blessing of a monastic elder. He lived by a church in Totma, going barefoot in winter and giving away all he received.
He reposed in 1673, and tradition relates many healings at his tomb.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Andrew of Totma is commemorated on October 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 23 of the civil calendar.
