Aninas the Wonderworker

Venerable Aninas the Wonderworker of the Euphrates.

St. Aninas was born in Chalcedon and lived as an ascetic near the Euphrates in Syria, in the fourth or fifth century. Tradition relates that he was granted great gifts of healing and prophecy, that wild animals obeyed him, and that many came to him for counsel.

He reposed in peace at a great age, and the Church keeps his memory on March 16 and March 18.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Aninas the Wonderworker is commemorated on March 16. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 29 of the civil calendar.
