Anthony the New of Constantinople

Venerable Anthony the New, wonderworker and ascetic.

Venerable Anthony the New was a monk who embraced the ascetic life in the Byzantine period and became known for his humility and gifts of prayer.

The synaxaria remember him as a wonderworker, and he is commemorated on this day together with the other saints of the first of August.

On the New Calendar, Anthony the New of Constantinople is commemorated on August 1. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 14 of the civil calendar.
