Timothy of Proconnesus

Saint Timothy the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Proconnesus.

Saint Timothy was archbishop of Proconnesus, an island in the Sea of Marmara. He is remembered as a shepherd of great compassion whose prayers brought healing to the sick.

Tradition relates that he reposed in peace, and the Church calls him Wonderworker because of the many cures worked through him.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Timothy of Proconnesus is commemorated on August 1. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 14 of the civil calendar.
