Antiochus the Monk

Venerable Antiochus of the Lavra of Saint Sabas, author of the Pandects.

Venerable Antiochus was a monk of the Lavra of St. Sabas in the seventh century. After the Persian invasion of Palestine he composed the Pandects, a compendium of Scripture and the Fathers for the use of monks, and reposed in peace.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Antiochus the Monk is commemorated on December 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 6 of the civil calendar.
