Basilla the Martyr

Holy Virgin Martyr Basilla, companion of Saint Eugenia.

The holy virgin martyr Basilla was a noble maiden of Rome who was brought to faith by St. Eugenia. Refusing marriage for the sake of Christ, she was slain by the sword.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Basilla the Martyr is commemorated on December 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 6 of the civil calendar.
