Archippos

Holy Apostle Archippus.

St. Archippos the Apostle is named in the New Testament, where St. Paul calls him his fellow soldier and bids him fulfill the ministry he received in the Lord. Numbered among the Seventy Apostles, he served the church at Colossae in the household of Philemon in the earliest days of the faith.

According to tradition he sealed his ministry with martyrdom, suffering for Christ in the time of the persecutions. He is commemorated on February 19.

On the New Calendar, Archippos is commemorated on February 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 4 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
