Arkadios the Emperor

Righteous Arkadios, Emperor of the Romans.

Arkadios, son of Theodosius the Great, was emperor of the East at the turn of the fifth century. Although his reign saw the exile of Saint John Chrysostom, the Greek synaxaria remember him among the pious emperors.

He reposed in 408.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Arkadios the Emperor is commemorated on August 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 9 of the civil calendar.
