Athanasia and her Daughters

Holy Martyr Athanasia with her daughters Theoktiste, Theodote and Eudoxia, martyred with Sts. Cyrus and John.

St. Athanasia was a Christian woman of Canopus in Egypt who was arrested with her three daughters, Theoktiste, Theodote and Eudoxia, in the persecution of Diocletian. The Unmercenaries Cyrus and John came to strengthen them and were arrested too; after torture all were beheaded.

They are commemorated on January 31.

On the New Calendar, Athanasia and her Daughters is commemorated on January 31. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 13 of the civil calendar.
