New Monk-Martyr Elias Ardounis of Kalamata.
St. Elias Ardounis was a barber of Kalamata who had embraced Islam and later repented, becoming a monk on Mount Athos. Returning to Kalamata, he publicly confessed Christ and was burned alive in 1686.
He is commemorated on January 31.
