Holy Unmercenaries Cyrus and John.
Sts. Cyrus and John are honored among the Holy Unmercenaries, physicians who healed in the name of Christ without accepting payment. Cyrus was a physician of Alexandria and John a soldier who joined him; together they served the sick and strengthened the persecuted during the persecution of Diocletian at the beginning of the fourth century.
Hastening to encourage a Christian woman and her daughters under arrest, they were themselves seized, confessed Christ, and were beheaded. The faithful have long sought their intercession for healing. They are commemorated on January 31.
