  Cyrus and John

  Martyr, Κύρος και Ιωάννης

  Sts. Cyrus and John are honored among the Holy Unmercenaries, physicians who healed in the name of Christ without accepting payment. Cyrus was a physician of Alexandria and John a soldier who joined him; together they served the sick and strengthened the persecuted during the persecution of Diocletian at the beginning of the fourth century.

• Athanasia and her Daughters

  Holy Woman, Αθανασία και αι τρεις θυγατέρες

  St. Athanasia was a Christian woman of Canopus in Egypt who was arrested with her three daughters, Theoktiste, Theodote and Eudoxia, in the persecution of Diocletian. The Unmercenaries Cyrus and John came to strengthen them and were arrested too; after torture all were beheaded.

• Arsenios of Paros

  Venerable, Αρσένιος ο εν Πάρω

  St. Arsenios was born in Ioannina in 1800 and became a monk on Mount Athos before settling in the Cyclades. He served as spiritual father of the convent of the Transfiguration on Paros, where he was famed for his prayer, discernment, and miracles.

  Martyr, Ουικτωρίνος, Ουίκτωρ και οι συν αυτοίς

  Sts. Victorinus, Victor, Nikephoros, Claudius, Diodorus, Serapion and Papias were Christians of Corinth who confessed Christ in the persecution of Decius and, after being sent to Egypt, were put to death by various cruel tortures.

• Tryphaina of Cyzicus

  Holy Woman, Τρυφαίνη

  St. Tryphaina was a Christian woman of Cyzicus who openly rebuked the pagans and confessed Christ. Tradition relates that she was cast to wild beasts and remained unharmed until a bull gored her.

• Elias Ardounis

  Martyr, Ηλίας ο Αρδούνης

  St. Elias Ardounis was a barber of Kalamata who had embraced Islam and later repented, becoming a monk on Mount Athos. Returning to Kalamata, he publicly confessed Christ and was burned alive in 1686.
