  Tryphon

  Martyr, Τρύφων

  St. Tryphon was born in the village of Campsada in Phrygia, in Asia Minor, where as a youth he tended geese. Endowed by God with grace to heal the sick and drive out evil spirits, he became known far beyond his village. During the persecution of Decius in the third century he confessed Christ, endured torture, and was condemned to death, receiving the martyr's crown while still young.

• Perpetua and Felicity of Carthage

  Holy Woman, Περπέτουα και Φιλικητάτη

  St. Perpetua was a young noblewoman of Carthage, a nursing mother, who was imprisoned together with her servant Felicity and the catechumens Saturus, Revocatus, Saturninus and Secundulus during the persecution under Septimius Severus. Felicity gave birth in prison shortly before the group was led into the arena.

• Peter of Galatia

  Venerable, Πέτρος ο εν Γαλατία

  St. Peter of Galatia left his home while still a boy and lived as a hermit, first in Galatia and later near Antioch in Syria, where Theodoret of Cyrrhus knew him and recorded his life. He spent his days in fasting, prayer and silence in a small tomb-like cell.

• Vendemianos of Bithynia

  Venerable, Βενδιμιανός

  St. Vendemianos came from Mysia and became a disciple of St. Auxentios on the mountain near Chalcedon. After the death of his elder he continued to live in a cleft of the rock on Mount Oxia, struggling in fasting and prayer for many decades.

• Anastasios of Nafplio

  Martyr, Αναστάσιος ο Ναυπλιεύς

  St. Anastasios was a painter from Nafplio in the Peloponnese. Tradition relates that after a broken betrothal he was driven out of his senses and in that state was drawn into professing Islam; when he came to himself he publicly renounced it and confessed Christ before the Turkish authorities.

• Brigid of Ireland

  Holy Woman, Βριγίτα της Ιρλανδίας

  St. Brigid was born in Ireland in the fifth century and from childhood was known for her generosity to the poor. She received the monastic veil and founded the great monastery of Kildare, which became a centre of learning and charity.
