St. Basil the Confessor, Archbishop of Thessaloniki, defender of the holy icons.
St. Basil was Archbishop of Thessaloniki during the period of iconoclasm. He stood firm in the veneration of the holy icons and endured persecution for the Orthodox faith, earning the title of Confessor.
